Item description
Application:
The locking unit is used to firmly hold the round stock (chromium-plated steel, stainless steel) such as piston rods, guides etc. in the desired position. Special adaptors for cylinders are available. During venting (energy failure), the clamping unit automatically clamps the round stock and releases it (powerless break!) during pressure application.

Materials:
Body: anodized aluminium, clamp jaws: brass, piston: POM, spring: spring steel, seals: NBR / PUR

Temperature range:
-20 to +80 °C

Operating pressure:
4 to 10 bar

Scope of delivery:
Locking unit is delivered including fastening screws

Advantages:
•short response time and high switching frequency possible,
•long service life,
•exactly reproducible positioning thanks to exact guidance of the jaws in the housing,
•due to the use of special brass extremely low wear on jaws and the rod,
•automatic, safe break in the event of energy failure (powerless break!)

Warning:
The locking unit should not be used as a safety device!

Warning:
When using pneumatic cylinders, the locking unit should be opened only if equilibrium of forces prevails at the piston, otherwise the backward movement of the piston rod could lead to an accident. Shutting off the supply of compressed air on both the sides (e.g. using a 5/3-way valve, centre position shut off) guarantees no safety! In many cases a 5/3-way valve can cause breathing in the centre position. Please ask us in individual cases.
